Summer-About

Summer has had a lifelong interest in traditional forms of healing, and has a background in psychology. A self-proclaimed nomad-soul with an insatiable wanderlust she has wandered far and wide, yet she always finds her way back to the restless and beautiful (insert > mountains > desert>) ocean. When she swims she likes to spin like a dolphin, a trick she developed on her own, and loves to show people. On clear nights she can be found bathing underneath the gleaming moonlight or listening to the stars sparkle. When she has free time she likes to hang upside down from trees/couches, scribble in her journal, or plant-watch (which is similar to people-watching). Currently she is enjoying a journey through the universe with her three little teachers who are also her [much adored] children. She plans to continue exploring the incredible depths of consciousness and has a deep desire for  Peace and Love to All Beings.

Summer began her yoga journey when she discovered Sarvangasana one night while wearing “pull-ups” to bed. This was a moment she thinks she’ll never forget. “That moment I knew something was very right about my posture,” she says “I was also very proud of my pull-ups in that moment.” Summer was 4 years old at the time but has still found herself enjoying Sarvangasana many a night. Summer first came upon Yoga Nidra during her Yoga Teacher Training when a guest teacher taught a class on it. It was another one of those “moments” that felt significant to her. This inspired her self-study of Yoga Nidra. When she finished her 200hr RYT certification she began teaching Yoga Nidra to MMA fighters and war veterans at the end of their Yoga classes. It didn’t take long for her to notice Yoga Nidra’s ability to create mind-body harmony and inward healing. She went on to study Yoga Nidra with the Satyananda Yoga Institute as part of her 500hr Yoga Teacher certification with Twist Yoga. There she discovered the more subtle transformative depths of Yoga Nidra. Summer now incorporates Singing Bowls into her Yoga Nidra classes while maintaining the Tantric roots of Yoga Nidra. She has observed that Sound has the potential to create an additional layer of depth to the Nidra practice through harmonious Vibration. Summer see’s the meditative qualities of the Bowls and how gently they harmonize subtle states of release through the body.

She notes the words of Tesla who said:

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
